What's a Hydration Tan?

We’re loving all of our clients’ reactions to our latest service - the Hydration spray! Chase away the winter blues and give your skin a little extra love with the newest (+ best!) Moon Glow. Our hydration tan has quickly become a client-fave for a few different reasons: Longevity. Fade-off. Extra hydration in winter. It’s the same glow you know and love, but just a little more enhanced.

For clients who are curious if they are a candidate for this new tan, the answer is always YES! Even if your skin is already on the more hydrated side, this formulation includes a shot of hyaluronic acid serum additive in our curated tanning solution plus an additional top-coat of our Hydrofirm moisture-lock sprayed on top.

Clients are loving the results, and how their tans have gone from lasting 7-10 days to up to fourteen. It’s been a great option for clients visiting warmer climates, bridal sprays, or if you’re a dry skin sufferer in these gloomier months - like so many of us are.

To answer a few of our most frequently asked questions about the hydration spray . . .

What is hyaluronic acid?
Known for its ability to increase the moisture content in our skin, hyaluronic has a lot of great skin benefits, such as: reducing the appearance of fine lines/wrinkles, plumping and hydration, and improving wound healing. For our more science-y clients: HA can bind up to 1,000 times its weight in water! So in other words, it functions as a humectant and holds water molecules onto the surface of the skin to keep it nice and hydrated.

Do I have to moisturize if I get this type of tan?
Yes - we still recommend incorporating tan-safe moisturizer into your daily routine, but we do feel you won’t need to double moisturize or use a crazy amount because of the extra hydration boost this spray gives your skin.

Can I do a hydration spray with a rapid tan?
We don’t recommend it, beyond adding the hyaluronic acid drops (+$1.99) into the rapid formula. The reason we say this is because a rapid tan is only kept on, at max, for five hours, and it is not enough time to allow the Hydrofirm top coat to do its thing.

Is hyaluronic acid safe for all skin types?

Absolutely! The formulation we use is acne-safe, pregnancy-safe, and contains no comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients.

We hope this little passage of information on our new spray helped educate you a little bit more! We’ve been getting a ton of questions about this tan since adding it to our service menu last month, and we truly could not recommend it more! We hope you all give it a try.
